The Rest Atlas Scoring Methodology

How we quantify bedroom peace. Transparent mathematical weights, environmental decibel audits, and orthopaedic bedding inspection standards.

The Mathematical Model

Weighted Rest Score Formula

Rest Score = (Bed Comfort × 0.30) + (Quietness × 0.20)+ (Lighting & Climate × 0.20) + (Design & Wellness × 0.30)
30%Bed & Linen
20%Quiet Environment
20%Lighting & Climate
30%Design & Wellness

Each pillar is scored between 0.0 and 10.0 by authorized sleep environment assessors. The final calculated weighted score is rounded to exactly one decimal place.

The 4 Assessment Pillars Explained

A

Bed and Linen Comfort

30% of Overall Score

Mattress support, premium natural fiber linens, ergonomic pillow menu, and motion isolation.

Key Verification Criteria

Mattress quality (natural latex, pocket spring, horsehair, organic wool)
Linen quality (minimum 400TC Egyptian cotton or washed French linen)
Pillow menu with at least 4 distinct densities and fills
Bed frame acoustic stability and motion isolation
B

Quiet and Sound Environment

20% of Overall Score

Structural soundproofing, acoustic glazing, corridor buffer zones, and ambient decibel levels.

Key Verification Criteria

Acoustic wall insulation and solid acoustic core doors
Double or triple-glazed windows rated for high traffic/ambient noise isolation
Corridor noise isolation (airlock or vestibule entry doors)
Internal plumbing and elevator sound isolation
C

Lighting and Climate

20% of Overall Score

100% blackout blinds, circadian lighting controls, whisper-quiet HVAC, and clean air filtration.

Key Verification Criteria

Zero-light leakage blackout curtains or motorised cassette blinds
Circadian amber/warm bedside lighting without harsh blue wavelengths
Silent HVAC system operating below 25 dB in sleep mode
Individual guest room temperature precision and HEPA air purification
D

Interior Design and Wellness

30% of Overall Score

Biophilic bedroom aesthetics, visual calm, natural materials, and restorative wellness facilities.

Key Verification Criteria

Calm neutral palette, clutter-free architecture, and organic textures
Expansive nature, garden, forest, or peaceful courtyard vistas
Regenerative wellness amenities (sauna, cold plunge, mineral onsen, flotation)
Mindfulness amenities, acoustic gardens, and evening sleep tea rituals

Confidence Tiers & Integrity Protocols

1. High (On-Site Verified Audit)

An authorized assessor physically stayed at the property, logged decibel readings with calibrated sound level meters, inspected mattress materials, verified blackout lux levels with a light meter, and audited ventilation noise.

2. Medium (Documented Architectural Specifications)

Architectural blueprints, manufacturer invoices (e.g. Hästens, Naturalmat), STC acoustic wall ratings, and mechanical HVAC decibel specifications supplied by hotel engineering and independently audited.

3. Editorial Estimate

Preliminary baseline assessment synthesized from verified guest review frequency, published hotel photography, and geographic satellite noise maps prior to full physical verification.
